What to Wear for Your Beach Wedding

My clients often worry about picking the “right” dress for their beach wedding.  In the past decade, the wedding dress industry has seen a growth in demand for beach wedding dresses as more brides are choosing alternate venues for their ceremonies.  The fact is even if you’re having a destination wedding, it is still your day, and a beach wedding can be as formal or as casual as you want it to be.

Your choice should reflect the “theme” of your wedding as well as your personality.  Are you looking for elegant and ethereal?  Vintage or bohemian?  Simple and chic? Perhaps you’re fully embracing the beach as part of your theme, or it is simply a gorgeous backdrop and you want still want glamour. Take a look at some of our past clients who range from classic bridal to edgy and fun and see if you can find some inspiration.

Ball gowns, lace and sequins, trains, veils, color, and yes, even pants – all can work at the beach.  If you have concerns, chat with your wedding planner about any logistics issues.  For instance you may not want to walk out in the sand in those gorgeous custom heels you found. Instead, bring them along for the photo shoot and go barefoot for the ceremony or flaunt a pair of decorative footless sandals. Longer veils can occasionally be tricky on windy days so choose something detachable or easily removed so you aren’t constantly having to pull it away from your face.
